Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using DetectionLint ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Use of the Service
The Service analyzes Sigma, KQL, and SPL detection rules you submit and returns quality scores, lint warnings, and improvement suggestions. You retain full ownership of the detection rules you submit. You may not use the Service to analyze rules you do not have the right to submit, or to probe the Service for vulnerabilities outside of a disclosed security research process.
3. API Keys
You are responsible for keeping your API key confidential. Do not share your API key publicly or embed it in client-side code. You are responsible for all analyses made with your key.
4. Plan Limits and Fair Use
Free tier accounts are limited to 20 rule analyses per month. Pro accounts receive unlimited analyses plus AI Suggest fix. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that abuse the Service or attempt to circumvent plan limits.
5. Intellectual Property
You own the detection rules you submit. We do not redistribute private rules submitted to the analyzer. Public rule library submissions are opt-in only — rules are never shared publicly unless you explicitly opt in. DetectionLint retains ownership of the Service, its scoring algorithms, and all associated infrastructure.
6. Payment and Subscriptions
Paid plan subscriptions are billed monthly or annually through our third-party payment processor. You may cancel at any time. Refund terms are described in our Refund Policy.
7. Email Communications
By creating an account you consent to receive transactional emails related to your account — including welcome messages, payment receipts, subscription changes, API key security alerts, and usage limit notifications. These emails are required to operate the Service. Optional non-transactional emails (currently a monthly usage recap) include an unsubscribe link in every message and can be disabled at any time without affecting your account.
8. Account Management and Suspension
We reserve the right to suspend, downgrade, or delete accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or circumvent plan limits. Administrative actions on your account (such as key rotation or deletion) are taken only by authorised staff and may be triggered by security incidents or policy violations.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the Service will be error-free or uninterrupted, nor that our scoring will catch every issue in a given detection rule. You are responsible for reviewing analysis output before deploying rules to production.
10. Limitation of Liability
DetectionLint shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.
11. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
